Strengths and Skills

Theatre knowledge –

I’ve always been the most annoyingly enthusiastic student in my theatre classes. I have opinions on most every playwright, and have read more scripts and seen more productions than I care to admit (I’ll admit one: I’ve seen Twelfth Night twenty times) so I have a wide breadth of knowledge.

I especially love Shakespeare, I can, and have in the past, talk about it for hours. In particular, I’m fascinated in the theory of adaptation, how directors, filmmakers, and other creators are taking Shakespeare and manipulating it to suit our time.

Social Media –

I wouldn’t have the success I have today without my Twitter page. I’ve learned how to market writing, how to suit writing to an audience, and especially how to build an audience. I’m proud of my 1000+ fanbase, and I try to produce content they would enjoy.

Writing –

The entire reason I have any fans at all is because of my unique voice and writing style. My writing is straightforward, but always has a comedic kick to it, and writing always cheers me up.

Humor –

If I can’t be funny, I don’t really see the point. I love making people laugh, I love devoting energy to “useless” things and finding meaning in them to bring joy to others, like in my piece on why Jim Halpert is actually a stalker, or my Work In Progress, ranking every episode of 30 Rock by transphobia.

Passion for Television and Film –

I see television and film as equal with theatre, just filmed, and I bring an equally critical eye to Netflix standup specials and Shakespeare plays. It can seem frivolous to some, but I watch upwards to 12 hours of media a day and television has brought me through terrible times in my life, so I know how impactful it can be.
