Receiving critical negative feedback without taking it personally can be a skill. Last summer, when I was working on a mentorship program for refugee entrepreneurship, I realized the meaning and the importance of standing on the balcony- the ability to distance oneself from the situation in order to understand what is happening.  sometimes we get caught into situations that we can’t even manage to shift our minds to another point of view. When our own perspectives are dismissed, we either take it personally or we get lost. Standing on the balcony takes you into the minds of those you are engaged within the critical discussion. This has helped me manage stress, engage in a tough discussion that requires to take a decision and receive feedback without taking it personally.
