Statue of Liberty National Monument
This picture shows the skyline of New York City. It was taken at Liberty Island, where the Statue of Liberty is located. The picture also reflects Urmila and me posing. This image depicts how you have to cross the lake in order to get to Liberty island. In addition, I chose to take this picture as a way to remember the time I went to see Liberty Island. I chose to take the photograph at that specific time because there was not other people walking through. This photograph represents how by traveling I got to meet a new friend. By having Urmila as my travel partner I got to learn about her and her culture. During my travel I got to try Indian food, and learned that I like samosas. Therefore, I was able to be an open minded traveler my having learned about another culture while traveling in a different state. Since Urmila told me about her cultural traditions, how food is prepared, and by having had shared pieces of her life.
Overall my trip in New York City is one that I will always remember. Based on the picture I was able to make a new friend and to be able to travel to somewhere new. In addition, this trip allowed me to learn about Indian culture by having traveled with someone. Therefore, this picture shows how I was able to learn and explore New York but it also represents how i learned that different people from different cultures can become united by experiencing a place.
