During my freshman year of College, I undertook my global journey trip. For my trip, I got assigned to travel to New York City (the big apple). I had not been to NYC until my flight. My initial expectations were that I was going to like it since I love big cities. During the trip my class and I went sightseeing, we saw many various theater plays, and went to museums. For instance, we got to see the color purple, the king and I, and more. I also enjoyed that out instructors gave us the leeway to explore the city on our own. The freedom led me trying the food that I wanted, and to visit specific sites of my interest as well. Also, I’m good at navigating, so going out and about was not a problem for me. Overall, I had a great experience because I got to try new activities and it reminded me of home (Chicago).
My experience mattered because I got to build a love and appreciation for art and theatrical plays. For example, I fell in love with the play called the Color purple. The color purple made me feel so many emotions, many of which I didn’t think I would’ve had felt. My trip to New York also reiterated my love for being a city. Hence, after college, I know that I want to find a career in Chicago. A success was that I was scared that I was going to like New York pizza more than the one from Chicago, but successfully I didn’t. Lastly, my experience was the same as I expected. Because New York houses many people of different cultures; it’s a melting pot of greatness.
After my trip, I have been to museums that I wouldn’t have had gone to before. Like I mentioned, this trip made me appreciate art more than I did back then. Hence, my summit experience made me more open to art and theater and more knowledgeable about these domains.
