Assistant Softball Coach

During the summer of 2017, I had the opportunity to coach for my old softball high school team. This experience was incredibly unique in the sense that I had been captains of teams for years, but I had never been in a position where I was one of the coaches and had the power to make decisions for the team. With this power came a strong sense of responsibility but also the commitment to the girls that I would supply them with the knowledge and skills to be their absolute best on the field. This experience shaped the way I would lead my team going into my senior year by allowing me to see what hinders success as well as what encourages it. Through this experience, I was able to recognize that coaching is an interest of mine as well as a powerful skill. I also was able to solve issues for the team regarding fundamental fielding and hitting problems as well as intra-team conflicts. I was able to do these things with my knowledge of the game and my ability to be a conflict resolution mediator.
